Our carbon footprint is down 56% in the last 6 years, with 50% of energy now coming from solar power. Additionally, we have released the first cable cleat Environmental Product Declaration report.
Covers direct GHG emissions that occur from sources controlled or owned by an organisation.
Covers indirect GHG emissions from the purchase of electricity or heating/cooling. Scope 2 emissions physically occur at the facility where they are generated, but they are included in an organisation's GHG emissions because they are a result of the organisation's energy use.
Covers indirect GHG emissions from activities and assets not owned or controlled by an organisation, but that the organisation indirectly affects in its value chain. This includes upstream and downstream activities.
This is based on Scope 1 & 2 as detailed above.
Many organisations are projecting to half their greenhouse gases by 2030. Ellis has already achieved this in just 6 years. This success has come about largely thanks to the introduction of solar panels and the electrification of our company car fleet plus many small energy saving measures throughout the organisation.
Ellis Patents is proud to announce a groundbreaking achievement: the publication of the world's first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for stainless steel cable cleats! This EPD is created in accordance with the rigorous standards of EN 15804+A2 & ISO 14025 / ISO 21930, providing a comprehensive life-cycle assessment (LCA) of our products' environmental impact.
The EDP has been produced in partnership with the EDP Hub and is independently verified to ensure the methodology is sound, the data is representative, and the entire document adheres to the strict guidelines of EN 15804+A2 & ISO 14025 / ISO 21930.
The Stainless Steel Cable Cleats EPD is an average EPD encompassing four of our most popular product ranges: Vulcan+, Emperor, Flexi-Strap, and Colossus. This valuable resource empowers our:
Suppliers: To make informed decisions about their own environmental impact.
Customers: To understand the environmental footprint of their projects.
Distributors: To enhance their environmental reporting and sustainability efforts.
What is an EPD?
An EPD - Environmental Product Declaration goes beyond product specifications. It's a transparent document that analyses the environmental footprint of a product throughout its entire lifespan, from sourcing raw materials to final disposal. This includes factors like:
Global Warming Potential (GWP)
Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP)
Eutrophication Potential (nutrient pollution)
Abiotic Resource Depletion (consumption of non-renewable resources)
...And much more.

“For over two decades, energy conservation at Ellis has been a priority. This commitment, driven by both environmental responsibility and business sustainability, is evident in our early choices to recycle, adopt natural & LED lighting, and embrace solar power. These decisions are now yielding dividends, securing a lasting and eco-friendly future for our workforce.”
