The Brazilian Pre-Salt oil fields extend from Espirito Santo to Santa Catarina and reach up to 8000 meters below sea level. Petrobras first discovered pre-salt oil reserves in the Santos Basin in 2006 which is one of the largest worldwide oil discoveries in recent years.

The vessel is one of eight proposed FPSOs that will have a processing capacity of 150,000 bpd of oil and 6 million m³/day of natural.
