Challenge: A customer using a mobile generator needed short circuit protection for cables from the generator to a location approximately 20m away.
The solution needed to provide high short-circuit protection but also be easily transportable.
Ellis developed a solution using Emperor cleats and bespoke steelwork.
The steelwork was designed to be lightweight and easily assembled.
Steelwork maintained structural integrity for cable restraint during a short circuit.
Ellis’s technical team used 3D CAD modelling for design.
The design was optimised using FEA software and hand calculations.
Final design drawings were then used to manufacture the structures in-house.
